UltraCart Server Time Zone
UltraCart application time zone
The UltraCart application uses US Eastern time (America/New_York). Times shown in the UltraCart admin, including order timestamps and reports, are Eastern.
Eastern time changes with daylight saving time:
- EST (Eastern Standard Time) is UTC-5, used from early November to mid-March.
- EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) is UTC-4, used from mid-March to early November.
BigQuery data warehouse time zone
The UltraCart BigQuery data warehouse stores timestamps in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). A raw timestamp from BigQuery will not match the time shown for the same event in the UltraCart application until you convert it to Eastern.
To convert in a query, wrap the timestamp column with the America/New_York zone, as the existing sample queries do:
DATETIME(TIMESTAMP(o.creation_dts), "America/New_York") as creation_datetime_est
See the Order and Revenue Queries page for more examples.
Converting between UTC and Eastern time
Use the converter that matches the time of year:
- UTC to EDT converter (daylight saving time)
- UTC to EST converter (standard time)
