GPS-ERR-01

What happened

Your Google Product Search feed generated with no products in it, because no items are both configured for Google Shopping and assigned to a catalog page on your StoreFront. The message appears as a comment at the bottom of the feed file, which lives at https://www.yourstorefront.com/feeds/googlebase.xml (replace the host name with your actual StoreFront):

<!--
GPS-ERR-01 - Feed empty because no items assigned to catalog/StoreFront that are configured for Google Shopping.
-->

The fact that the file generates and can be viewed means Google Product Search is turned on successfully. The feed is empty only because it has nothing to list yet.

What to do

  1. Verify that every product you want to list has its Google fields completed on the item's Google Product Search tab.
  2. Assign those items to your StoreFront catalog pages. Google needs a page URL to send shoppers to, so configuring the item is not enough on its own.

To assign items to a page:

  1. Open your StoreFront editor on secure.ultracart.com: Home → StoreFronts → Pages.
  2. Make sure you have at least one catalog page created.
  3. Edit that page with the pencil icon at the top.
    1. The page must use the template_catalog.vm page template.
    2. With that template set, an Items tab appears. Open it.
    3. Choose the item template. Usually the only option is template_item.vm.
    4. Use the assignment tools to assign items to the page.
  4. Once items are assigned, the feed generates a fully populated file.
note

Feed files generate daily in the early morning hours, so look for a corrected file the next morning. There is no way to force the job to run early.
